Lucas Van Dijck - Chief Autonomous
Within our autonomous team we are working on the mobility of the future. Using artificial intelligence and our brightest engineering students we aim to develop a fully autonomous driving race car. The autonomous team consists of four different subteams: mechatronics, perception, SLAM and control.
During the first year of UGent Racing we focussed on building a self-driving capable platform using state-of-the-art software simulations. In the Summer of 2022, we built our first autonomous test platform, Pegasus, to put our pipeline to the test. Our next goal is converting one of our existing racecars to become self-driving with the final goal of taking part in international Formula Student competitions with a fully autonomous car.
