Callisto’s First Challenge: Formula Student Czech Republic

This year marked the start of the sixth chapter of UGent Racing. And with that came a major milestone: for the first time in our history, our race car was powered by two in-wheel motors.

After months of designing, manufacturing, testing and countless hours of hard work, it was finally time to find out what Callisto could really do. Our first stop? Formula Student Czech at Autodrom Most. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was electric. Callisto was about to face her first international competition, and the entire team was eager to see how our brand-new drivetrain would perform under real racing conditions.

The first major hurdle was technical inspection. With a completely new drivetrain, there was plenty to prove. But after going through all manual technical inspections, Callisto was officially cleared for the racetrack.

And then, it was time to race. Acceleration. Autocross. And finally, Endurance.

For the first time, we could see months of work come together on track. Every lap was a chance to learn, improve and discover what our new car was capable of. There were challenges along the way, but every challenge brought valuable experience for both the car and the team.

And our hard work wasn't only rewarded on track.

In the static disciplines, UGent Racing secured an impressive

6th place - Driverless Engineering Design Event

8th place - Cost & Manufacturing

These results highlighted the technical depth behind Callisto and the preparation that went into every aspect of the car.

Most importantly, FSCzech gave us something even more valuable: our first real competition experience with Callisto. The first chapter of our competition summer was written.

But FSCzech was only the beginning.
